Mastering Graphic Design in the Digital Canvas

This comprehensive academic program equips students to utilize design principles and elements effectively for crafting unique graphic design projects in the realms of digital media and web design. Participants will employ state-of-the-art software tools, including the Adobe Suite, encompassing Dreamweaver, Animate (formerly Flash), Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, to produce innovative digital creations.

Students in the program undergo comprehensive training across various disciplines, encompassing typography, publication design, and computer-aided graphic design. The curriculum focuses on cultivating proficiency in creating visually compelling and clear communication. Emphasis is placed on the presentation of information, including considerations such as color selection, choice of paper, and utilization of different media.

Graduates will be able to:

  • Apply graphic design concepts to produce original digital works.
  • Utilize typography to design materials.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of appropriate color selection for print and non-print media.
  • Utilize website development tools to create and implement a website.
  • Demonstrate entry level skills in application software relevant to the graphic design field.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the graphic design field, including its employment opportunities and future direction.

General Education

In addition to the program-specific outcomes listed above, students completing the Associate degree programs are required to demonstrate proficiency in the General Education learning outcomes. Specific outcomes may vary by program; please refer to the program requirements below.

  • Depending upon a student's placement or for transfer purposes, this program may have pre-requisite(s). See a pathway coordinator or student development specialist for advisement.

  • For GD 294, Internship Program, 3.0 GPA and recommendation from a CIS full-time faculty required.
